This guide was developed as an outreach of a demonstration funded by the Massachusetts Dept. of Food and Agriculture. The PAWS system allows for compost to be produced with a minimum amount of machinery with great odor control while retaining nutrients. As a result of this project, PAWS was successfully demonstrated on fish wastes, manures and crop residues. Following this project PAWS was also demonstrated at the University of Maryland, the USDA Farm at Beltsville, Maryland and in a Chesapeake Bay Trust project on the eastern shore of Maryland.
